Malaria Chemoprevention for the post-discharge management of severe anaemia in children in Malawi, Uganda and Kenya: Moving towards policy
Start and End dates: 2014 to 2019
Source of Funding: The Research Council of Norway ($5.3 million)
This project aimed at synthesizing evidence to address gaps in knowledge before the Global Malaria Programme (GMP) of WHO would consider whether postdischarge malaria chemoprevention should be recommended as a strategy for the post-discharge management of children with severe anaemia. It involved a confirmatory trial in Kenya and Uganda, a delivery mechanism trial and health services research in Malawi, an impact analysis and cost evaluation of the strategy.
