Majete Malaria Integrated Control Project

Start and End dates:  2014 to 2019

Source of Funding: Dioraphte Foundation ($5.6 million)

This was a community-based operational research study aiming at reducing the prevalence and incidence of malaria through community-driven malaria control strategies in the communities around Majete Game Park. We conducted a cluster-randomized trial assessing house modification, larval source management and standard national malaria control strategies in order to reduce malaria transmission in 90,000 households in southern Malawi which was assessed through rolling malaria indicator surveys and entomological measurements in the community.
